Self Care and The Holidays

Hello Friends,
We are all busy. Then you add in the holiday season and most of us go into OVERLOAD mode. But now its even more important to take some time out and take care of ourselves. Stress can manifest into all kinds of mental and physical problems, from loss of concentration to headaches and worse.

​It's very important to schedule time for self care all the time, but especially during the stressful holidays season.  Below are a few simple things you can incorporate into your routine to take care of yourself and combat stress.
  • Take a hot bath. - Take a night off from the festivities and just soak in the tub. Add herbs, crystals, oils or salts and up the healing experience.
  • Spend time alone reading in front of the fire.  The shops will still be there tomorrow and if you miss a sale item then take it as a sign it wasn't meant to be. Quiet time to reflect and just 'be present' is the best way to combat the holiday urge to over spend. 
  • Meditate - Allow yourself time to meditate and to relax. Just 10 minutes a day of meditation has been scientifically proven to ease stress levels and fight depression.
  • Exercise - Take a walk, do yoga, or go to the gym. Get the blood pumping and the natural endorphins flowing. Your scales will thank you, plus it works great for combatting the 'holiday blues', too.
  • Spend time in nature. - Weather permitting, find ways to enjoy nature. Go skiing, build a snowman or visit a botanical garden. Spend time gardening or in a greenhouse surrounded by plants.
  • Unplug -Step away from the phone, computer and television. Turn off the electronics for an hour a day and just be. Stop checking Facebook, emails and Instagram for at least an hour a day.
  • Self Reiki - Set aside time to Self Reiki every morning. It's a great way to start the day off and give yourself extra energy. Can't fit time for self Reiki in the morning? How about right before bed? Turn on the Reiki and go to sleep. You will sleep better and wake up refreshed.

Make time to take care of yourself. It has to become a priority. You will feel better, be more efficient and better able to enjoy the holidays.
