Empaths are excellent listeners, confidants, and counselors. For this reason, it's common for people to be drawn towards their sincere and caring natures, almost like magnets. Which is great - except when it isn't. Due to this superpower of being a great listener Empaths often experience a lot of “emotional dumping” from other people, and most have a difficult time releasing themselves from the negative energy this interaction brings with it. Often this stagnant energy remains in their minds and bodies for days or even weeks after the conversation. Yuck!
Taking On Someone Else's Energy?
Have you ever had a conversation with someone and you suddenly feel better? Maybe even lighter, like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders? If so you have probably been speaking to an Empath. What usually happens for them is very different though. After this type of conversation the other person feels better than they have in years and walks away happy and relieved to have gotten "things" off their chest. Yeah! Awesome! But the Empath is weighted down with this negative, stagnant energy. This energy that was dumped on them may even manifest into a headache, upset stomach, physical fatigue or foul mood. This energy dumping can leave the Empath feeling depressed or anxious, regardless of how they were feeling prior to the conversation.
Often this stale energy manifests in the Empaths body as congestion, headache or flu like symptoms that may come and go for no apparent reason. This is why it is so important for Empaths to ground and stay centered when interacting with other people.
If you need support moving this stagnant energy I'm here to help! We will be discussing this and other issues Empaths face in the upcoming videos and blog posts and you can book a private support session.
