Your comfort zone is aptly named because it keeps you comfortable and safe, which means it’s keeping your business from growing. You’re likely to feel frustration at this point because you can't quite get your projects off the ground or reach that magic window of success. So what to do? Step out of that safe zone and take a risk. A calculated risk that will help your business, of course, but something that you’ve never tried or a strategy that you dumped before seeing it to fruition. Breathe some new life into your business by trying new things. Need help stepping out there? I can help! Let's work together to get your business on the fast track to success! Sarah No matter what business you are drawn to, you need to lay a foundation for success. I have complied three super quick tips to help you succeed:
1. Know what makes you unique. It doesn't matter if you are an author, healer, reader or social media maven, you need to stop trying to be different and connect with your purpose and your authentic self. When you stop following the herd you will stand out for all the right reasons and people will be drawn to you. 2. Create an online presence that reflects your brand. Look at any successful business and you will see it has a theme, message and offer. These businesses are not recycling other people posts and neither should you. Find your own voice and speak your truth to attract the clients and jobs right for you. 3. Think outside the book and generate income from other sources. If you are a yoga teacher, reader or service provider it doesn't take long to figure out that you cannot work enough hours in the day. Time to think outside the box and come up with innovative ways to draw in more revenue. Workshops, trainings, book-sales, merchandize and paid videos are all easy ways to drawn in more income. Need help with these? I'm here to support you! I hope you found these tips useful. If the answer is ‘yes', watch for the number of times you tell yourself you “should” be doing what you can’t get motivated to do. According to Transactional Analysis (a theory prevalent in psychology circles during the 1970s) your inner parent is scolding you, which tends to cause either resistance or helplessness.
Focus instead on either promising yourself a reward or finding a way to make what you’re avoiding fun. That’s the way to free your Inner Child… and reclaim your true Adult, the one who feels confident and in control. This week I challenge you to move out of your comfort zone by having conversations with more people. Often we end up stuck in our own circles and echo members as a result. We end up missing out on fresh ideas and new perspectives because of this. Its time to break out of those limits and discover who else is out there. I challenge you this week to speak up in online groups, pick up the phone and call someone or schedule time with someone who will enrich your life with new ideas! If you want to speak with me I have a few open slots for discovery calls. These are not sales-y calls, (because I don't like that and I bet you don't either). Grab your spot today and lets see what new ideas come through~ Speak soon, Sarah If you are having a difficult time defining your financial business goals, I would suggest you work backwards. Once you have that BIG, ultimate goal its easier to break it into smaller, on point tasks. Begin with a money goal. It helps if that goal has a meaning beyond the dollar figure. For example, lets say that I want to buy a new car. The payment is around $400. Taking into account for things like taxes, insurance and perhaps a warranty, it could be more. So lets say we bump the goal up to $600. In other words, I need to add an extra $600 (or more, because more is always better) to my monthly bottom line. Once that is done and I am seeing that level of income on a regular, consistent basis, I’m ready to order my new car, yeah?
The next step is pretty simple, once I know how much money I have to make, I can start to think about different ways to bring it in. I could find more customers, or add to my existing products. Also I could create more products to sell. But I need to figure in price points and gross profits as well. For example, if I have a $10 eBook, I would have to make an extra 60 sales per month. From there I can work backwards. If I know that on average one out of 10 email subscribers buy the book within the first month of signing up. (We learned this from the data, remember? Click here to read about what data your business should be collecting.) I need to add 600 new subscribers to my list, which in turn takes 4,000 new visitors to my site. If that is my plan, I know that my daily to-do list needs to include plenty of action steps to ramp up my traffic by an extra 4,000 people per month. (Which is do-able, by the way.) But that is not my only option. I could also create another information product or eBook each month and sell it to both my existing and new subscribers. I could also create a higher priced item. If so, I would need to make a lot fewer monthly sales to reach my $600 goal. For example, if I create a nice $100 product, it would only take 6 sales per month to pay for the car. Since the car payment will be an ongoing thing, it also makes sense to look into recurring payments. This could be my own membership site, or I could look into affiliate offers with recurring commissions. I could also raise my prices on existing services and products to bring in extra cash each month. After I know my goal (extra $600 a month for a new car) and pick my approach; (adding products) it becomes a lot clearer. Now I have a concrete goal to work towards. Because I really want that new car, I’m going to be motivated to get it done and grow my business by that extra $600 per month. In fact, chances are great that I’ll overshoot the goal by several hundred dollars! #Win! Now, take this formula and apply it to your business. What financial goal are you shooting for? Once you understand how much extra you need, consult the data you are collecting to find the best approach to raise the money. It can honestly be that simple, once you understand this approach! As simple as that sounds, it can be totally frustrating when no one seems to be seeing you or buying your product. The most effective way to boost sales is to get more people to sign up for your list. Where do these new subscribers come from? You get them by increasing the traffic to your site. Some of the things you want to do and track then are:
Let me illustrate this with an example. Let’s say you start out with 100 new visitors per day. 10 percent of them sign up for your mailing list, which comes out to 10 new subscribers each day. One of these people buys one of your products at $10. Now let’s see you double your traffic. With nothing else changing, you go from making $10 per day to $20. But what if you can also improve your opt-in forms and get to a 20% conversion. You also create a few more products and each of your customers ends up spending 3 times as much as before. When we add all that up you go from making $10 per day to 40 new subscribers each day which means 4 new customers. If each of them spends $30 shopping around in your shop, you end up making $120. That’s a pretty big bump from $10 while still only requiring you to double your traffic. Pretty impressive, isn’t it? See you tomorrow as we look at how to Work Backwards to set your business goals.
