It is very hard to find the delicate balance between a happy work life and happy home life. Today I would like to share a few things that you should do both at work and at home to create a more balanced, rewarding life. But first, do you realize how important this really is? It’s actually a very important, but often overlooked topic. Lately it has been covered by groups like Mental Health America, Web M.D., Forbes, and Business News Daily. So instead of you searching all over the Internet to try and find some advice, I thought I would share five easy tips that you can use today to begin creating a more balanced life, both at home and at work.
But Routines aren’t just for work. A routine allows everyone to know what’s going on and when. However, sometimes you need downtime too. Don’t be afraid to allow yourself and your family some downtime, you need to make this a routine too. You can even put it on the calendar. Scheduling in downtime for you and your family is a great way to make sure you all are able to relax.
If your company doesn't have a telecommuting systems in place, perhaps you can ask about starting one.
It is also important to learn how to say no to social events. When home life events are too taxing or when work is requiring more from you, you need to be able to say no. Maybe you have social obligations that are just too draining, or don’t allow you enough time with your family in the evenings. Cutting these extra demands out will help you find balance. If you want more was to lead a more balanced life why not sign up for the 30 Day Living With A Purpose Challenge? It’s 30 Days of information and of course I will have hands-on tips and suggestions for you. Read more about this fun challenge here.
If you have children, learn their school's policies too. Knowing the procedure for turning in sick notes, calling out for the day, or showing up late. Learn who and where you can pick up your child if they become ill at school now, before it is needed.
At home, communication is essential. This is even more important if you have a partner and/or children at home. Make sure you are sharing with everyone any special projects, your upcoming plans and generally what is going on with you. In addition, you need to know what is going on with everyone else. Make it a point to check in with everyone in your household regularly, It’s also a good idea to set a weekly family meeting to discuss upcoming events, stress points, things that may need planning and other elements of life that could cause stress. Communication is key in making a business trip or family vacation go from chaotic to smooth. These simple steps will help you find balance in your busy life, no matter how chaotic life becomes. What are some ways that you have found to balance work and home life? Do you do any of these tips now or do you have some to share that weren’t on our list? I’d love to hear how you combat stress, do leave me a comment below. Hello There, Today's card of the day on Snapchat was (See above) "Follow your Dreams". It's a pretty card and seems like the simplest of ideas, right? Except that for most of us it isn't. We are assaulted throughout the day with things vying for our attention. The TV, the internet, co workers, friends, family, partners, radio, advertisements, and the list goes on and on. So with all of this constant chaos it is easy to actually loose track of what makes you happy and what you dream of doing. I'm going to share a Bliss technique for getting back in touch with your Higher Self and the keeper of your dreams. This technique has been helpful for my coaching clients and I think it will help you, too. Start by finding a quiet place to meditate for five minutes. Clear your mind or listen to a guided meditation (I have one here that is only 2 minutes long). Once you have calmed your mind and are feeling less stressed ask yourself, "What do I truly desire?" and "What is important to me?" Listen, really listen. You might be surprised at what pops into your mind. It could be something like: My children, my partner, moving, work, starting a new career, painting, peace of mind, being healthy, music, being free, traveling, a new car, gardening, etc. There is no judgement. Immediately write down the top five things that were given to you. Don't worry if you didn't hear five, or had many more. We are going to focus on five to begin this shift. Now take a look at your daily schedule, does it contain any of these things? No, or perhaps not all five? Then it is time to rearrange your schedule to incorporate all FIVE of these desires into your every day life. As an example: you may want to travel and it may not be possible to travel every day, but you can start planning a trip and researching your destination, setting a budget and reading reviews or working out a schedule for small day trips, etc. Or it could be that you want to learn a new piece of music, start by scheuling time in daily to pratice. No matter how busy you are you can find a bit of time for these things. If you do not then they will become lost in the shuffle of day to day life, other people's agendas and Netflix weekends. (You know I'm right.)
What we focus on we become. Life is lived in tiny moments, day by day, with no promise of tomorrow. We have a tendency to not want to schedule our "fun" because somewhere deep down we don't think it is important. But guess what? Science has shown it is important for both your mental and physical health. Following your dreams and desires is the best way to live a fulfilling life. Make an effort TODAY to begin this practice and let me know how you feel after a week. What is it like making time for your dreams? Are you less stressed? Sleeping better? Feeling happy? What obstacles did you run into? I'd love to hear your experience. I know if you can incorporate your dreams into your life, you will be moving closer to a fulfilling and overall happier existents. Today we are going to discuss personal changes. Any change can be trying, but PERSONAL changes are usually met with resistance, even if we long for the change.
Is it time to leave that job? Or move house or leave a stale relationship? Or could it be that its time for all of the above? If you take classes with me then you know that all the moaning, groaning, bitching and complaining are not helping at all. You are manifesting more struggle. Do you find yourself repeating how you “don’t want to really leave” or “aren’t ready” or “circumstances aren’t right”? You know this doesn’t help a bit. You are caught in circular thinking and you may be manifesting more angst for yourself. What to do? Remember that no action is just as much a choice as choosing to leave. Even though you are not making a choice you are actually making the choice to stay. If you are not happy, fulfilled, or growing in your current circumstances, then the feelings will probably not go away. Just so, every choice comes with consequences. Bliss Challenge: You can ask yourself, “What small change can I take right now to move me forward towards my goal?” *Note your goal is of course living your dream life, right? If you do not have a goal then you probably need to start there. What do you actually want and why? You might want to read this post for another approach on understanding what you really desire and why. Now ask yourself the question and then listen for the answer. Be quite and just listen. Your soul knows what you need, but you just have to listen. Your soul will always be kind, because you are kind. If you hear something sarcastic or unkind, chances are you are hearing your ego, not your soul. Brush that away and ask again. Once you get the answer its time to make a plan. Now if you are someone who is brilliant at helping others, but may not always have follow through on your own tasks, don’t feel alone. I can help you develop a plan of action and tiny steps to move you closer to your dream. Then soon you will be making GIANT leaps forward. You can do it! You can make those changes and build your dream life! Ready to book one on one session? Email me today! Love and Light, Sarah If you missed this mornings card pull on #Snapchat ...
Are you feeling the "New Opportunity" yet? I had no sooner posted this up than I started getting texts, emails and calls from people saying that I was a mind reader. (Lol, hardly) But new opportunities are close by. The stars are lining up and all that hard work you have done manifesting is about to pay off. Are you ready? Or are you feeling fearful? Even though BIG Opportunity comes hand in hand with BIG Changes, do not let fear stop you from following your dreams. You didn't come here to play it small. If you are unsure then its time to research the opportunity and after you have the fact why not pray, meditate and seek advice from people you trust? Bliss Challenge: Include the affirmation above in your morning routine. Let me know what happens. I can't wait to hear all about the exciting new opportunities that await you! Love and Light, Sarah PS: Snapchat Sarahpthomas for more. Hello Friends,
I hope you are well. Spring is finally here, (at least according to the calendar) and hopefully you were able to get a bit of rest and enjoy some time outside over the last few days. I've been fortunate enough to meet some interesting new people while traveling and add new clients. (Hence my lack of posts - that and the wildflowers are blooming and I've been frolicking about in them like the butterflies and bees). #TrueStory Stressed? It seems like more and more people are reporting feeling super stressed, disconnected, fatigued and nervous lately. Are you having these symptoms too? There are many reasons for feeling this way, but one reason may be a disconnection from nature. When was the last time you just relaxed under a tree? Enjoyed a hike or walked a nature trail? Are you spending enough time outside? Return to Nature. Your body/mind/soul may be craving time in nature. Reconnecting your energy to the earth's energy works on many levels to restore and renew us. You might benefit more than you can realize by taking a slow walk in a local park or green space. Why not plan an afternoon this week in the park? Put it on your calendar and then note how you feel afterwards. Are your stress levels down? Are you smiling again? Are you taking any time off from your tech? Another culprit could be your technology. I'm as guilty as any one of always being plugged in, but I also schedule days (actually on my calendar) to turn everything off. I plan ahead of time, get everything caught up and spend a day hiking or camping sans all tech. I usually come back to town rested and rejuvenated, clear headed and ready to put new ideas into action. Bliss Challenge: If you are feeling out of synch and over stressed, why not try a day in nature, too? No cell, no radio and no distraction? Just good, healthy snacks and plenty of time to relax. Set the day up in advance, don't try for more than a few hours or a day at a time. Allow yourself time to sit, meditate and just "be". Don't over plan your time. This is about rest and relaxing, not schedules and "to do" lists. As you slow down notice your thoughts and how your body feels. It may take time to relax, so perhaps walking or hiking would be a good way to begin. Let me know how you feel afterwards. Was it difficult to unplug or were you glad not to be chained to your phone and Facebook? Love and Light, Sarah PS: I am hearing so much positive feedback from you on the new site. Thank you all so much! This exciting journey continues, as every day more classes are added, more events are booked and more people join our healing Bliss tribe! Thank you all for lending your energy and helping to spread the word. You are why this program works! Sarah What you plant, you grow.
Do you garden? Even if you have never planted anything in your life you can understand the basic concept, yeah? What seed you plant and water you grow. Pretty straight forward. It works the same way with us, too. What seed we plant inside of us and water grows too. What seeds are you planting? Confidence, wisdom, self love? How about compassion, strength or courage? You might also be planting seeds of fear, doubt, blame and anger. Within each of us all these seeds exist, the idea is to only tend the seeds that we want to see flourish and bloom like healthy flowers in a well maintained garden. Example: Have you ever encountered an angry, bitter person? One that sees everything as negative and wrong? This person has been tending to those seeds and ignoring the seeds of compassion and love. It is important to understand right now, WE chose which seeds to tend. Our thoughts and our actions shape our internal “garden”. When we tend the seeds of anger and bitterness we ignore the seeds of compassion and love. If we continue over time to tend to only those seeds then we shape our own identity to conform to those thoughts. We become negative, bitter and filled with hate. Also whatever seed we tend the most, we will have a tendency to bring out in others as well. Remember like attracts like. How often do you see love and hate having coffee together? Not every often, do you? Usually you with either witness two happy people together or two bitter, sullen people together. Now there are exceptions to this rule, but for the most part we tend to gravitate to the people we have the most in common with. People who share our view of the world, yeah? Think about how you see the world and the experiences you are currently having. Are they concurrent? Are your experiences confirming what you believe? How about the people around you, are they tending the seeds you wish to flourish in your own inner garden? Bliss Challenge: In your journal describe the 5 people you spend the most time with. What type of people are they and what types of internal seeds are they tending. Do they match the seeds you are tending? Or are they the seeds you wish to tend? If not, what are the seeds you wish to cultivate? List them. Next Step: What changes do you need to make? It is our own personal responsibility to tend these seeds. It has nothing to do with how we were raised, or what life experiences we have had. We make the choice every day on how our internal garden should grow. If you need help weeding and planting new seeds I am here to help you. Love and Light, Sarah File under: #Bliss #Challenges #SelfLove #Growth #LIfe #LOA #Relationships |
