What you plant, you grow.
Do you garden? Even if you have never planted anything in your life you can understand the basic concept, yeah? What seed you plant and water you grow. Pretty straight forward. It works the same way with us, too. What seed we plant inside of us and water grows too. What seeds are you planting? Confidence, wisdom, self love? How about compassion, strength or courage? You might also be planting seeds of fear, doubt, blame and anger. Within each of us all these seeds exist, the idea is to only tend the seeds that we want to see flourish and bloom like healthy flowers in a well maintained garden. Example: Have you ever encountered an angry, bitter person? One that sees everything as negative and wrong? This person has been tending to those seeds and ignoring the seeds of compassion and love. It is important to understand right now, WE chose which seeds to tend. Our thoughts and our actions shape our internal “garden”. When we tend the seeds of anger and bitterness we ignore the seeds of compassion and love. If we continue over time to tend to only those seeds then we shape our own identity to conform to those thoughts. We become negative, bitter and filled with hate. Also whatever seed we tend the most, we will have a tendency to bring out in others as well. Remember like attracts like. How often do you see love and hate having coffee together? Not every often, do you? Usually you with either witness two happy people together or two bitter, sullen people together. Now there are exceptions to this rule, but for the most part we tend to gravitate to the people we have the most in common with. People who share our view of the world, yeah? Think about how you see the world and the experiences you are currently having. Are they concurrent? Are your experiences confirming what you believe? How about the people around you, are they tending the seeds you wish to flourish in your own inner garden? Bliss Challenge: In your journal describe the 5 people you spend the most time with. What type of people are they and what types of internal seeds are they tending. Do they match the seeds you are tending? Or are they the seeds you wish to tend? If not, what are the seeds you wish to cultivate? List them. Next Step: What changes do you need to make? It is our own personal responsibility to tend these seeds. It has nothing to do with how we were raised, or what life experiences we have had. We make the choice every day on how our internal garden should grow. If you need help weeding and planting new seeds I am here to help you.
