The Missing Element in Your Funnel

5/30/2017

Picture
Welcome to Triumph Tuesday - Where I discuss issues, ideas and tips to support your business and share ways you can triumph and live the life you deserve.

Have you heard all the buzz around the term “funnel”?
The first thing new online business owners learn is the power of the offer funnel.
You’ll find WordPress plugins to help you design your funnel and landing-page creators to assist in building it. And yet still your funnel doesn’t perform as it should.

So what’s missing? Cohesiveness.
I know, I know. You mail regularly. You’re making offers. You even make sales. If you weren’t, you certainly wouldn’t be in business this long. But if your funnel isn’t bringing in a steady cash flow that grows month after month, then something is clearly wrong, and I’m betting it’s because you lack consistency and cohesion. (Read more about tweaking your amazing funnel)

Most of us do, myself included, so don’t feel alone. This isn’t something to beat yourself up over, but do take a look at your funnel and offers with a critical eye, and ask yourself:
  • Does my opt-in offer satisfy a real need of my ideal client?
Too often we throw together a simple eBook or webinar without ever stopping to consider if our ideal client—the one we really want to work with—really needs or wants it. Unless your opt-in offer answers a driving question or solves a problem for your client, they are going to pass.
  • Does my follow-up series continue to help resolve her issues?
This is where a lot of funnels go off the rails—in the follow up. In order to maintain cohesion and keep your readers’ interest, your follow-up emails should continue to address the issue that originally brought the client to you. Unrelated products and random affiliate offers do little to build trust and can even lead to unsubscribes.
  • Does my big offer follow naturally from the opt-in?
If your opt-in incentive is designed to help homeschooling moms manage their time better, then your group-coaching program must include an element of time management as well. Anything less and your loyal readers will feel as if you don’t know them at all.  See how easily all this flows?
Just like a great sales page, all the pieces of your funnel need to flow naturally from one to the next, leading your readers toward bigger and better offers. It’s this cohesiveness that will help plug the leaks and keep your funnel filled with prospective clients who can’t wait to buy from you.
Ask yourself these questions to plug and leaks and let me know your results. I’d love to discuss this further with you.

Be sure to Join me every Tuesday for more success tips as we further explore ways for you to triumph in todays fast paced and ever changing business world.

See you there,
Sarah

Say it With Confidence: How to Discuss Rates Like a Pro

5/23/2017

Does the topic of money make your mouth dry and your hands sweat? If so, you are not alone. For most people this is one of the hardest hurdles to overcome. Do you dread that point in a conversation when someone says, “So what do you charge?”
Picture
Most of us have difficulty talking about money—especially when it comes to quoting prices for our own work. But if you’re going to be successful in business, you have to get over it. And get over it now!

How?
Practice. The first rule for declaring your prices with confidence is simply to practice. Talk to yourself in the shower. Tell your cat what your rates are. Stand in front of your mirror and say, “I charge $XXX.00 per hour.”

The more you say your rates out loud (not in your head) the more natural it will be for you.  Trust me, this really works!

Smile. Even if you’re on the phone or writing an email, smile when you say your rates. Your tone of voice changes when you smile (as does the “tone” of your typing), and that tone can convey confidence and authority, not to mention professionalism.

Avoid being wishy-washy. Listen to yourself as you speak to potential clients. Do you say things like, “Well, normally I charge…” or “Actually, my rates are…” or “Do you think that $XX.00 will work for you?” Ugh, NO!

These (and others like them) are all wishy-washy ways of talking that do not instill confidence in your client, and worse, they make you sound like you don’t believe in yourself and if you do not believe in yourself, why should they?

Rather than squeaking out a timid, “Um, I charge, like $1,000 per month,” straighten your back, smile, and say, “My rate for VIP coaching is $1,000 per month. Where should I send your invoice?” And then…

Be silent. When we’re nervous or feeling intimidated, we tend to talk. We want to fill the silence with something, anything, just to avoid having to sit there uncomfortably and wonder what the other person is thinking.

But guess what? He or she is just as uncomfortable with the silence, and psychologically, the one who speaks first is at a disadvantage. So when you’re talking price, avoid the urge to fill the silence (especially because you’re most likely to try to justify your pricing, remember you do not have to justify anything to anyone) and let your potential client take time to respond.

Will speaking with confidence always land you a new client? No. But being able to share your pricing in a clear voice will help potential clients know that you’re confident in your skills, and consequently, that you are the right person for them.

Tune in every Tuesday for more tips on building your business and becoming more successful.

Signs Your Over-Thinking

5/22/2017

Is over thinking a bad things?
Most of us over-thinks in certain situations, but some people are plagued with a constant barrage of thoughts all the time.

Signs of over thinking:

  • Analyze everything to death
  • Dislike making decisions
  • Expect the worst
  • Would rather someone else decide for you
  • Regret often
  • Second guess everything
  • Suffer from insomnia
  • Can’t forgive or let go
  • Take everything personally
  • Criticize yourself constantly
  • Never fully relax
  • Feel like you cannot turn off your brain

There are many techniques including, meditation that help you stop the "loop" of over thinking and  find peace. Email if you want to know more.

Affirmations For Healthy Eating and Exercising

5/11/2017

Hello Lovely,
Today I want to share with you a small, but powerful collection of affirmations for healthy eating and exercising I use regularly with clients. When working with affirmations, be sure to state your affirmations in the positive tense, as in "I take the time to prepare healthy dinners."

Picture

Affirmations work best when you read them out loud every single day, either early in the morning or right before bed. You may also find it helpful to record them and listen to them as an audio recording throughout your day.

Affirmations:

  1. "I am healthy and fit."
  2. "My muscles are strong, lean, defined and sexy."
  3. "I take the time to prepare healthy dinners."
  4. "I am so grateful for this wonderful food."
  5. "My body gets all the nutrients it needs."
  6. "My muscles are strong."
  7.  "I love my body."
  8. "Eating healthy and exercising nurtures my heart and soul."
  9. "I enjoy exercising."
  10. "I feel wonderful after I exercise."
  11. "I am peaceful and calm."
  12. "I feel good about myself."

Picture

Do any of the affirmations resonate with you?

You can always make up your own - just make them positive and affirming.  Once you get in the habit of saying them to yourself (on a daily basis), you will notice changes in your relationships with food and exercise. Why not start today?

Stop! Before You Raise Your Rates...Do This

5/9/2017

Picture
Continuing on with the "Successful Business Tuesday" theme-
In every business owners’s life, (I don’t care if you are a service provider or a retailer) there comes a time when you simply have to raise your rates. Maybe you’ve been in business for years without a pay increase. Maybe your skills have recently improved through a new training course or certification. Or perhaps your profit margin is slipping and you have to make adjustments. Maybe you just want to attract a higher caliber of client. It’s a fact of life, it happens.

Whatever the reason, it is imperative to have a plan in place before you make your big announcement.  But where to start? What do you do, as to not lose existing customers? Do you raise prices across the board or only new clients? What if your clients will not accept the price increase? How can you stay ethical in pricing and still implement the changes?
Picture
Start by taking a look at your current customers. Will you raise their rates as well? If the answer is no, then you have to consider if keeping them will be worth your time, or if you’ll feel resentful at the amount of (lower paid) time you are spending with them. And lets be honest, resentment can build up, so be wary of this. Resenting your customers is poison for your business! It’s a much better idea to raise their rates than provide substandard services due to hidden anger.

If the answer is yes, then you have to prepare yourself for potential fallout. Simply put, there are some clients (you know who they are) who will balk at a price hike. They’ll threaten to leave and they may actually leave. Realistically, are you prepared for the hit your wallet will take should that happen?

Next, consider when your rate increase will go into effect. This might be different for each client, depending on when/how they’re paying you. For example a client who is on an annual coaching plan might not see an increase for 8 months or more, while a monthly client might be shocked to find his or her rate is going up in a week.

If you can, give you customers at least 30 days notice of the increase, so they can not only budget for a higher expense, but shop around for a new provider if they choose to.

Finally, if you’re a little flexible and want to gain a few new clients, you might think about creating a last-minute offer. Announce that your rates are going up on [whatever date], then offer to let X number of new clients lock in your current rate, if they sign a contract right now.

Sure, you’ll still be working at your old rate, but with a few new clients on the roster, your cash flow will definitely improve as you transition to the higher rates. Plus this should off set the existing clients who leave due to the price increase.

The most important thing to remember about rate increases is this: You have to feel good about the prices you charge. If you think your rates are too low, chances are good that they are. Raising them will not only make you feel better, but it might just let your current and prospective clients know the value of your services as well.

See you next Tuesday for more successful business tips and mini trainings!
